Face to Face Meeting in Garching 2002-12-09 and 2002-12-13
IDR Meeting
SSR reviewers have provided number of comments to the many documents
published in advance of the IDR (see document list in http://tinyurl.com/3m05 and
comments and replies at http://tinyurl.com/38v2). A report
for the whole IDR will be available soon.
SSR Meeting Notes
DRUI Requirements We agreed that the DRUI is an interactive access to the pipeline
functionality. Its purpose is to allow the users to reduce off-line
their data, obtained through the standard observing modes of ALMA,
by introducing variations of the parameters or the strategy, that
has been used by the automatic pipeline data reduction.
P. Schilke, the DRUI subsystem scientist will draft more precise
requirements. These will be circulated through the SSR; the goal is
to have them approved at the next meeting (January 15th).
AIPS++ benchmarking AIPS++ benchmarking will be
done by the Aips++ project side. The related SSR work will
be coordinated by F. Viallefond. These include:
Definition of simulated data sets
Definition of simulated functionality. This should include
end-to-end procssing (from FITS data sets to FITS images) for
comparison with other packages.
Comparison benchmarking in other packages (Gildas, Miriad, ...).
Draft of metadata / ancillary data contents: This will be
drafted by R. Lucas on the basis of the list already in the SSR
report (memo 11), and circulated. The result will be compared with
the contents of AIPS++ measurement set V2 and be used as input for
discussions with the relevant subsystem leaders.
Operational requirements At the IDR meeting it was proposed that the science operational
requirement questions raised for software development are asked
through the SSR to the Joint ALMA Office.
SimLite It was agreed in the IDR discussion that the provision of a
`simLite' simulator inside the OT would considerably simplify
the implementation without significantly limiting the service
provided to the user. The subsystem scientist (L. Testi) will
prepare a description of this feature, in relation with the
rest of the SSR and the off-line subsystem.
